2024 Global Ocean Cleanup

A coordinated worldwide cleanup and action campaign to fight ocean plastic pollution.

We are teaming up with Oceanic Society and organizations worldwide to clean up some of Earth's most important ocean habitats from June 8-16,2024 and create artwork to inspire change. Last year over 3,100 people from 19 countries came together to host 50+ beach cleanups that removed 44 tons of trash from sea turtle nesting beaches and feeding grounds. We can’t wait to see how much trash we can remove from the ocean and beaches this year!

Before Your Cleanup

Join the 2024 Global Ocean Cleanup by signing on to lead a cleanup in your community. See the details below on how you can apply for funding, or register your cleanup event.

All registered organizations will have the chance to win a cash prizes provided by SEE Turtles and Oceanic Society for the most trash collected per participant ($250). Be sure to register your event to qualify for these prizes.

Plan Your Event

Thinking about organizing an ocean cleanup event? From picking a location to organizing your crew, there’s a lot to think of. Don’t worry we’ve put together a comprehensive list of all of the do’s and don’ts that you should consider. We’ve also put together a list of suggested supplies and materials to consider. Be sure to download our trash collection data sheet.

Register Your Event

Participate in the 2024 Global Ocean Cleanup by leading a cleanup in your community on June 16 or 17, 2024. To formally participate, we ask you to please register here, and commit to collecting and sharing basic information about your cleanup effort, including the amount of waste you collect. If your cleanup is open to the public, we'll share it on our world map.

After Your Cleanup

Report Your Efforts

We want to know how much trash you collected? If you know how many pounds or kilos you picked up, great! If you know how many trash bags you filled, fantastic! Use our pollution collection form to fill in whatever data you collected. The more data, the better! Sharing your collection data with us will help us know how much of the world’s oceans we cleaned up this year.

Art Competition

To harness the power of visual storytelling and showcase the global impacts of plastic pollution, participating organizations, groups, and individuals are encouraged to create a piece of artwork using the material collected during the cleanup. Artwork will be shared online and judged by a panel of artists and conservationists as part of a friendly competition, with the chance to win prizes!

Share Online

Be sure to share your efforts with us on social media by using #GlobalOceanCleanup. We’d love to see photos of your team and what you accomplished. Sharing online might seem silly but it will connect you with the millions of people worldwide taking action to fight ocean plastic pollution. Who knows—you might even inspire someone else to get outside and start cleaning!
